Once these areas have been identified we can work with you to determine which treatment would best suit you and your personal goals. We then work together to achieve your treatment goals, manage your injury and reach optimal health.
What is a Physiotherapist?
A physiotherapist is a health professional specialising in movement and function of the human body, treating a wide range of health conditions and injuries through a variety of physical techniques, including manual therapy and exercise rehabilitation. A physiotherapist works in partnership with their patients, assisting them to overcome movement disorders, musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain, sporting and work-related injuries and chronic health conditions such as obesity, stroke and osteoarthritis.
These conditions may have been present from birth, acquired through accident or injury, or are the result of ageing or life-changing events. Physiotherapists can also help people to avoid injuries and maintain a fit, healthy body, including elite athletes.
Sports Physiotherapy
Sports physiotherapy is the field of physiotherapy that specialises in preventing and managing injuries that have resulted from sport or exercise. A sports physio works with athletes of all ages and abilities (not just professional sportspeople) to overcome their injury and prevent re-injury. Common sporting injuries include:
- Ligament injuries such as ACL tears in the knee, sprained ankles and shoulder dislocations
- Tendinitis, such as in the Achilles, rotator cuff or tennis elbow
- Muscle tears, such as in the hamstring or calf
- Joint-specific injuries

Our Physiotherapy Techniques
Every body is unique. Our physios use a variety of therapy techniques to assist our clients with their condition. Depending on the nature of the injury or disorder, our physios tailor their approach for each individual client to provide the most effective treatment. Our techniques include:
- Manual Therapy, including deep tissue release, joint mobilisation (gentle gliding) techniques, joint manipulation, myofascial trigger point release, muscle stretching and soft tissue massage.
- Dry Needling to relieve trigger points and assist with pain relief and muscle function.
- Electrotherapy, which involves the application of energy and electrical stimulation to assist with healing and pain management, such as TENS and Ultrasound treatment.
- Exercise Prescription, where clients are given a personalised exercise program to complete both in the clinic and at home, promoting long-term management of the injury or condition through exercise rehabilitation.
- Therapeutic Taping to help stabilise and support the injury, while facilitating normal movement, physical activity and postural patterns.
Your Physiotherapy Appointment – what to expect?
During your initial appointment, an experienced physiotherapist will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your injury and/or condition to provide an accurate diagnosis, and determine what your goals are to achieve optimal health. Here we will aim to determine not only what the injury is, but also what caused the injury.
Once we know what the problem is, we will work out a plan for treatment and your prognosis for recovery, including an estimation of how long it will take to fix your injury, and how we can maintain these results long-term to prevent re-injury.
At your initial appointment, you may also get some hands-on treatment to help relieve your pain.
If your condition is chronic, you may eligible for the Medicare rebate for up to five allied health services (per calendar year), including physiotherapy and exercise physiology. Talk to your GP about getting a referral.
